Films on Demand

Atkins Library recently acquired access to additional streaming media content. Films on Demand is a streaming video service with approximately 8,900 videos and clips (mostly documentaries).  Includes primary and secondary sources for courses in Anthropology, History, Political Science, Communication, Sociology, Psychology, Education, the Arts and beyond.

Other streaming media content that you can incorporate into your courses include several collections from Alexander Street Press and the PBS video collection and Media Education Foundation (MEF) Films.

Sharing Videos with Students

All of these films are accessible from off-campus.  Eventually each title will be searchable in the library catalog and will include the permalink to share with your students.  For now we recommend following the steps below to share links to particular videos in each collection:

3 Steps:  Click on film title, scroll down page, and copy “Title URL” link

NOTE:  You cannot currently embed these videos into Moodle.

This service also allows you to create playlists, use interactive transcripts to skip to particular film segments, and share selected segments from films. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
